The Democracy Day Debate Speakers: It is argued that one fundamental and enduring challenge facing democracy is the continued lack of gender equality in all spheres of life. International IDEA’s assertion is driven by the motivation to create an understanding of democracy and its intersection with gender equality as a strategy that can assist in achieving sustainable democracy world wide. To what extent can gender equality be an issue for achieving the "Perfect democracy"? Does democracy need the face of democracy? Can a country’s democratic credentials be judged by its record on gender equality? |
